After explaining to Owen that Ben loves Mommy a little TOO much:
Me: Do you love your mommy?
Owen: Yes, I love you Mom.
Me: Do you love Daddy?
Owen: No.
Me: You don't love Daddy? Why not? You should love Daddy.
Owen: Because I no have the heart for him.
Me: You don't? Who is your heart for?
Owen: You!

Tiny Tidbits III
As I'm trying to rock Ben back to sleep after he woke up early from a nap, Owen sneaks in:
Owen: I got to give Ben a hug and kiss. He does so, then leans near Ben's ear.
Owen: (Whispering) I tell you secret. Your birthday coming up. It tomorrow!

Owen walks into the bathroom where I am brushing my hair.
Owen: I drink some of yours orange juice Mom, so you no spill it.
The glass was half empty.
**********
I'm at the kitchen sink, dumping some hot pasta into a colander. Owen comes running up to me.
Owen: Be careful, Mom! You will burn yours finger!
He's always looking out for me.

Me: (After hanging up the phone): Owen, I just signed you up for a playgroup. Do you want to go play with a bunch of other kids one day?
Owen: Yeah. That a good idea. Today?
Me: No, it doesn't start until September. But it's without Mommy. Mommy would have to leave you there by yourself. Is that okay?
Owen: Yeah. That okay.
Me: It's with a bunch of other kids your age. They would probably be the same kids you will go to Kindergarten with. It's over at the college. There will be some college kids who will stay with you. Does that sound like fun?
Owen: Yeah. I go to college, I drink beer. Daddy telled me that.
Oh, good heavens. My son is going to be the child who walks into playgroup on the first day and asks, "So, where's the beer?"

Tiny Tidbits II
Owen has just finished using the potty...
Me: Owen! Did you go poopy in your underwear?!
Owen: Yeah.
Me: Why?!
Owen: 'Cause me crazy.
While getting Owen redressed after incident mentioned above:
Owen: Daddy yike you, Mom.
Me: Daddy likes me?
Owen: Yeah. A yiddle bit.
While changing Ben's dirty diaper:
Owen: That an easy job to do! Changing Ben's poopy diaper!
Me: I'm glad you think so, kiddo. I don't see you offering to do it!
During lunchtime. I have sliced up an apple for Owen and put it out of his reach until he has finished his sandwich:
Owen: Moving the bowl in front of him. I got to put this closer to me.
Me: Don't eat it until your sandwich is finished.
Owen: Inching it even closer to him. I got to taste this to see if I will yike them.
Me: Oh, really? You do?
Owen: With a sly grin on his face, he nibbles on a slice of apple. Mmmmmm.

Tiny Tidbits I
In the kitchen, cooking dinner and singing to the boys:
Me: Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the......
Sam: ...fiddle
Me: The cow jumped over the...
Sam: ...fence.
Making breakfast for the boys and discussing an age old dilemma...
Owen: (as I am getting ready to crack open an egg). What's that?
Me: An egg.
Owen: Where'd it come from?
Me: Where do you think it came from?
Sam: A chicken.
Owen: Where does chickens comes from?
Me: An egg.
Owen: Where'd the egg come from?
Me: Where do eggs come from?
Sam: Chickens.
Me: Which do you think came first, the chicken or the egg?
Sam: Chicken.
Me: But where did the chicken come from?
Sam: An egg.
Me: But where did the egg come from?
Sam: A chicken.
Me: But where did the chicken come from?
Owen: Grandma's house!
Dilemma solved.

It's somewhere between 2-3 o'clock, which is "quiet" time for the boys, and my "me" time. Owen comes downstairs, clearly not about to fall asleep, and starts talking to me.
Me: Owen, if you are going to be down here, then you need to be laying on the couch with your book, reading silently.
Owen: Why?
Me: Because this is Mommy's time.
Owen: When is it MY time?
**********
It's nap time again and Owen has spent the last 1-2 hours upstairs talking, so I finally let him come downstairs to have rest time on the couch. After the gazillionth time that Owen has stopped reading to strike up a conversation with me:
Me: Owen, you need to lay down and read your book or you are going back upstairs to have rest time up there.
Owen: Mom. When rest time's done, I got to hug you.
